“Delicate soundscapes and thumping riffs.” The Other Side
"Guitar noise riot." Buck Theorem
"I'll definitely listen to it." Mark Ronson
“THE LAZLO DEVICE are a London four-piece who’ve forged a reputation for their unique blend of delicate soundscapes, thumping riffs and epic climaxes. Drawing from the likes of Mogwai, Wild Beasts, Grizzly Bear, Stateless, Four Tet, The Beta Band and Elbow, the lads have dedicated themselves to fusing their love of the sonic with the craft of song writing. The result is an eclectic mix of bouncy grooves, lush ambiance and epic finales all tied together by the unmistakeable Lazlo sound.”
Sam Lassman-Watts, Editor, The Other Side Magazine
"From its first notes, The Lazlo Device's "Battle On" will haunt you and draw you into their intriguing world. The song opens with dark spacey guitar licks which set the scene for what's to come, and at the same time let you know this act cares about each and every tone they put into their music. The guitar sounds throughout are sonically rich and appropriately arranged so the band can get its theme and message out with maximum appeal. But don't get too relaxed, because soon enough the vocals begin, drawing us into the story behind "Battle On". The singer's voice is the perfect delivery vehicle for this song, at once both pleading and convincing. Mixed at a moderate volume, never getting in the way of the song itself, building the perfect beast, this vocal is masterfully delivered
When the rock steady drums and solid groove kick in, the tune really pulses. The musicianship across the board is excellent and complements the songwriting to a "T". This band truly has a chemistry. The guitar wails away as the song builds, and finally ends with a driving insistence. No, you can't ignore The Lazlo Device."
Suzanne Glass, Indie-Music.com
"It's common for PR releases and publications to promote new bands as having a unique sound but it's rare for this website to use the word, And yet, there is no other way to describe the London four-piece Lazlo Device. Listen to 'Bleeding From the Waistline' and just as you think you recognise the influences it changes and you're in unfamiliar territory.
"Anyway, for the record they do list their influences as, in their youth, Nirvana, Radiohead, Mogwai and Elbow, with old heroes Joy Division, The Pixies and The Cure joined by a modern taste for Late of the Pier, Caribou, Grizzly Bear and Wild Beasts.
"The few tracks produced so far point to bigger and better things."
